After submitting an application, potential Service Corps consultants receive a survey to rank the projects they would like to work on based on interest and professional fit. Taking into account volunteer preferences and the skills and experience needed for each project, the NINYC Programs Committee matches teams of 4-6 professionals with complementary backgrounds to nonprofit and social enterprise clients. Applicants are notified of their matches with sufficient time to accept or decline before the Service Corps orientation.

Service Corps projects occur annually in the Spring (March-May) and Fall (September-December). Applications for the Spring 2021 session will open mid January.

There is no typical Service Corps client or project. NINYC welcomes all non-profit and for-profit clients with missions that align with Net Impact’s focus on social and environmental impact to apply for Service Corps, with the exception of political and/or religious causes. Projects and consulting teams are tailored to the current needs of the client, and often require professionals with a diversity of backgrounds to collaborate. Therefore, each round of Service Corps is unique in terms of client causes and projects. See case studies here.

Service Corps is a volunteer-based program and there is no cost to participate for consultants or clients.
